Learning about jobs, careers and post-school education pathways has been a focus for students this term, part of our Work-Related Skills subject. Students attended a number of expos and workshops - the Victorian Careers & Employment Expo, a RMIT Skills & Jobs Centre workshop, and the Women in Trades expo.
In class students have been researching different jobs. They interviewed other students and staff about their carer history and the different pathways they have taken throughout their careers.
Our VET classes also had opportunities for some hands-on learning related to the industries they are interested in. Some highlights include:
Workplace skills students did a site visit to Melbourne Central to learn about customer services and to complete their assessment.
Health Services students also had a chance to experience a simulated hospital environment at Monash University.
Retail Cosmetics students offered client services to school staff by providing skincare sessions as part of their assessment tasks.
Students are planning their own Careers Expo for Term 4 to share what we have learned. Stay tuned for more information soon!
